.: HISTORY |
The creation of ALASECE begins in the decade of the 80s when the Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA) -the Spanish acronym is CEPAL- manifests its interest on the projects of export promotion for the region and includes a chapter about manufacturing exports financing, therefore summoning meetings with representatives of different organisms linked to this topic. Is then, when the importance of coordinating efforts among countries of the region in order to attain such objective is established.
As a result of this task, the LATIN-AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF EXPORT CREDIT INSURANCE ORGANIZATIONS – the Spanish acronym is ALASECE- was created twenty five years ago, in 1982, with the objective of developing exports credit insurance, although its formal establishment as a legal entity was only performed until 2002.
The founding members of Alasece where at that time private companies and state organizations that operated the export credit insurances in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay. Later on, Mexico and Venezuela joined the group.
And now, celebrating our quarter century of existence, it is convenient to remember the beginnings of our Association in order to make a retrospection on the development of the credit insurance in Latin America and its future projection within an economic scenario more favorable than the one that framed its creation and further development at the end of the twentieth century. |
